Breaking the cycle of low literacy in economically
disadvantaged communities was an ongoing challenge. The Atlanta Family
Literacy Collaborative met the challenge by providing intergenerational
literacy programs for parents and their children who participated in
a common educational program. These programs combined early childhood
education with adult literacy and parenting skills. CSAL contributed
to this effort by serving as the evaluation partner.
