Do you have a bachelor’s degree and want to obtain teaching certification?

If so, the Teacher Education in English, ESOL, Mathematics, Middle Level Education, Social Studies and Science (TEEMS) program may be the right choice for you!

TEEMS is a nontraditional approach to teacher education for those who do not have teacher certification. Students in the program receive a renewable certification and a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree upon completion of 45 credit hours of graduate-level coursework.

Students can obtain their degree and certification in one of the following areas:

  • English Math, Science and Social Studies Education (Grades 6-12)
  • Middle Level Education (Grades 4-8)
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) (Grades P-12)

Information Session – M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education program @ College of Education, room 596

The Department of Early Childhood Education will host an information session on its M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education program on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in room 596 of the College of Education building (30 Pryor St., Atlanta).

Information Session: Guangzhou Overseas High School partnership @ College of Education, room 1030

High school teachers who teach English/social science, math/physics, or science are encouraged to apply to work as high school teachers in Guangzhou, China, as part of a new Georgia State University College of Education partnership with Guangzhou Overseas High School.

A cohort of Chinese students who intend to attend Georgia State University for their undergraduate degree will be taught in English by Georgia State trained secondary teachers during their final two years of high school. Three teachers will be hired by the BELA Education Group in China on a two-year contract to teach math, English, social studies and science aligned with Georgia’s standards for graduation. Potential applicants will be screened by College of Education faculty with BELA Education Group administrators making the final selection.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend an information session on Tuesday, March 4, from 5-6 p.m. in room 1030 of the College of Education building (30 Pryor Street, Atlanta).
