Urban Education Think Tank application deadline

The Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence’s Urban Education Think Tank (UETT) is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 academic year.

The think tank is a research-based, self- contained academic community whose membership is reflective of several disciplines and whose scholarship focuses on questions and solutions related to urban education.  The UETT promotes and facilitates scholarship, leadership and empowerment through critical research that focuses on urban education.  The mission of the UETT is to develop scholars who engage in urban education research and service that embraces cultural consciousness, social justice, community development and transformation.

Membership is open to any doctoral student interested in research and scholarship in urban education or a related field.  Preference will be given to students who are actively working on dissertation research.  Members of the think tank are provided access to Crim Center resources (e.g. programs and partnerships) and will receive limited funding for travel. Applications are due by Sept. 2, 2014.

Doctoral Dissertation Support Grant Application Deadline

Applications for the College of Education Doctoral Dissertation Support Grant are being accepted through March 2. 2015. All COE doctoral students who have an approved prospectus may apply for this grant. The COE will award a maximum of five grants for $1,000 each depending on the quality of proposals and availability of funds. Awards may be used for research expenses, including purchase of manuscripts through interlibrary loan, software, data collection expenses, professional travel and any other expenses that are allowed by Board of Regents accounting rules and as approved by the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. All funds awarded must be spent within this fiscal year (ending June 30) unless otherwise approved by the Associate Dean.

In order to qualify for this award, all supporting documentation must be submitted by e-mail to coedissertationsupp@gsu.edu by 5:00 p.m. March 2 for the Spring and Summer cycle. All information should be submitted as one PDF document in the order indicated below. The Committee on Research and Scholarship will review all applications and recipients will be chosen and notified within one month after the deadline.

Coffee for Charity @ Ebrik Coffee Room

The College of Education’s Student Affiliates for School Psychology (SASP) have teamed up with Ebrik Coffee Room to host Coffee for Charity, an exciting fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.

Next Thursday, April 23, 2015, Ebrik will donate 15 percent of its proceeds from noon to 4 p.m. to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.
