This fall, representatives from Georgia State University’s College of Education & Human Development and several metro-Atlanta school districts will come together to offer education students vital information for transitioning from collegiate life to a career as an educator.
The 2015 Professional Educators Induction Seminar is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Georgia State University Speakers Auditorium.
Applications are currently being accepted for the annual College of Education and Human Development Doctoral Dissertation Support Grants (Deadlines: First Monday in October and First Monday in March). All CEHD doctoral students who have an approved prospectus may apply for this grant. The CEHD will award a maximum of 10 grants for $1,000 each (up to 5 per semester), depending on the quality of proposals and availability of funds. Awards may be used for research expenses, including purchase of manuscripts through interlibrary loan, software, data collection expenses, professional travel and any other expenses that are allowed by Board of Regents accounting rules and as approved by the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. All funds awarded must be spent within 12 months of receipt of the award.
In order to qualify for this award, all supporting documentation must be submitted by e-mail to email@example.com by 5 p.m. on the first Monday in October for the Fall award cycle, and the first Monday in March for the Spring and Summer cycle. All information should be submitted as one PDF document in the order indicated below. The Committee on Research and Scholarship will review all applications and recipients will be chosen and notified within one month after the deadline. Nomination Requirements and Submission Materials:
- Cover letter (include degree program and contact information)
- Two-page summary of the approved prospectus
- Nomination letter from doctoral chair addressing all of the selection criteria
- Detailed budget for the use of grant funds
The CEHD Committee on Research and Scholarship will evaluate applications in each of the following areas:
- Significance or potential impact of the proposed study
- Feasibility of the proposed work
- Methodological soundness
- Quality of the students’ writing
- Appropriateness of the budget
At the completion of the award cycle, students should send a summary description of how they used the funds to support their dissertation work to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at email@example.com.
College of Education & Human Development & Human Development students looking to get a jump start on their post-graduation job searches will be able to meet with potential employers at the School Professions Career Fair on Thursday, March 10, 2016, from 4-6:30 p.m. in Veteran’s Memorial Hall.
The career fair, hosted by the college and Georgia State University Career Services, invites current Georgia State students to meet with representatives from various school systems in Georgia and other states.
