Burns named Outstanding Career and Education Teacher Educator

Dr. Janet Zaleski Burns was named the Outstanding Career and Education Teacher Educator by the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education at the organization’s annual summer conference.

Burns, program coordinator for the College of Education’s Career and Technical Education program, has worked in career and technical education for more than 20 years. She’s served on the board of directors for Trade and Industrial Educators of Georgia, chaired the American Education Research Association’s CTE special interest group and has published research in several scholarly journals, including Human Resource Development QuarterlyCareer and Technical Education ResearchBusiness Education Forum, and Journal of Industrial Teacher Education.

Burns was among 23 others honored at the conference, which brought together more than 2,400 career and technical education educators at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta for four days of professional development sessions. From here, she will represent Georgia in the Association for Career and Technical Education Region II competition.
