Expectations

	Commit contractually to teach secondary mathematics for a minimum of two years in Atlanta Public Schools (APS) or Dekalb County Schools System (DCSS) within 6 years after program completion.
	Attend monthly seminars designed for UMEP participants. These seminars will serve as a support system in the development of high quality urban mathematics teachers.
	Participate in the assigned Professional Learning Community (PLC) through the third year of teaching. The PLC will serve as a support system from the beginning of the program through your third year of teaching. The PLC will consist of UMEP participants, mentor teachers, counselors, principals, district administrators, and university professors.
