Funding is available to support doctoral students who want to get their Ph.D. in Special Education with an emphasis on academics and mental health issues of students in alternative schools. The name of the project is Project LEADERS (Leaders in Exceptionalities Alternative and Delinquency-related Environments through Research and Scholarship). We are funded through the Federal Department of Education, Office of Special Education under grant H325D110030.

Project LEADERS is housed at Georgia State University in the College of Education and within the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education and the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services. Annual financial support is up to $30,000. The total financial support is up to $175,000 over a five year period is available to each student.

Project LEADERS will prepare a cadre of six select diverse, highly qualified doctoral-level professionals who will be future higher education leaders in special education with an emphasis on academics and mental health issues in alternative settings. Scholars will provide effective leadership through research, service, and teaching upon graduation. Scholars will use, develop, and implement scientifically-based research in special education in alternative settings. Please email Drs.
