In Georgia, two universities offer training programs for individuals seeking to teach students with orthopedic impairments: Georgia State University and Valdosta State University.

Georgia State University offers a certification program in orthopedic impairments, an M.Ed. program in physical/health impairments (orthopedic impairments [OI]), and a Ph.D. in Special Education with a concentration in orthopedic impairments. Valdosta State University provides coursework for certification in orthopedic impairments.
