Dr. Mike Metzler,
Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health has been selected to receive a Board of Regents Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award for the academic year 2012. Two awards were given this year from nominations taken across all University System of Georgia (USG) institutions. The award will be presented at the annual USG Gala in March.
From the Board of Regents description this award, "Initiated by Boyer's Scholarship Reconsidered (1990), and exemplified by the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, the scholarship of teaching and learning encourages and supports the work of faculty members whose scholarship focuses on the instructional mission of the institution." This is the first time one of our distinguished faculty has won this prestigious award.
