Research Projects

The following projects are currently underway.

If you are interested in participating in our research, please contact Dr. Laures-Gore

Stress and Aphasia

This research seeks to better understand the psychological and physiological stress response in people living with aphasia.  We use a variety of measures to explore stress, such as biomarkers (salivary cortisol), cardiovascular responses, and self-report questionnaires.

Caregivers of Individuals with Aphasia

We are investigating how caregivers of people with aphasia cope with stress, as well as how personality and individual differences influence the effects of stress in these caregivers.  This project uses questionnaires that can be filled out completely online.

Alternative Therapies and Aphasia

Studies in this area explore the use of alternative therapies, such as yogic breathing, as adjuncts to traditional language therapy.

Dysprosodia and Dysarthria

Research in this area investigates aspects of abnormal prosody in dysarthric speech.  We are interested in perceptual and acoustic variables characterizing dysprosody.
