Information for Students


 

Eligibility

  • AFT seeks students genuinely interested in pursuing a career in education - preferably in teaching math or science - or in math and science careers.

  • 1st year applicants must be rising high school sophomores, juniors or rising seniors in summer 2013. (Class of 2014, 2015 and 2016)

  • 2nd year applicants (who completed one year of AFT): Class of 2013, 2014 or 2015. Note: 20 student maximum for this group. Apply early; acceptance is not guaranteed.

  • Students from all metro region public schools may apply. On average 65-75% of AFT students are from Atlanta Public Schools and Net-Q Partner schools.

 

Student Commitment

AFT Participants are expected to be present
Monday- Friday    June 10 -28
8:00 AM-1:30 PM

  • $200 student stipend is granted upon completion of the program and all assignments, with full presence and participation.

  • Late arrivals and early departures require advance approval.

  • Students should plan accordingly and discuss all special circumstances with AFT coordinators as soon as they arise.

Closing Celebration
Friday, June 28    1:00-3:00 PM

AFT students lead a celebration of everyone's hard work at Georgia State University.

Family, teachers, and administrators are invited. Participants should plan to stay until 3:00 PM.
